Activation Tool

In most cases, if you provide an activation key during installation, the server will activate automatically. However, if there is a problem with the activation process, the Laserfiche Activation Tool will launch and let you activate manually.

To activate the server

  1. In most cases, the Laserfiche Activation Tool will automatically launch if you need to use it. You can also launch it manually by navigating to your Laserfiche Forms Sever installation directory and double-clicking ActivationToolNet4.exe.
  2. In the Computer information section, select Activate this computer if you are running the utility on the same computer whose installation you are activating, or Activate another computer if the installation is on a different computer.
  3. If you selected Activate another computer, you will need to provide the hardware fingerprint and host ID for the computer you want to activate. You can retrieve your hardware fingerprint using the Hardware Fingerprint Utility on the Forms Server machine. A copy of this utility (showhwfp.exe) can be found in the Laserfiche Server installation directory.
  4. In the Activation information section, provide your activation key in the Activation Key option and click Validate. This will automatically populate the Product field. You can then select the version you want to install in the Version option.
  5. In the Save license to option, type or browse to the Forms installation bin subfolder that should store your newly-generated license file. By default, the license file should be saved to C:\Program Files\Laserfiche\Laserfiche Forms\Forms\bin. It is strongly recommended that you not move or modify your license file once it has been saved.
  6. Click Activate to activate your product.

Important: The Activation Tool uses port 443 to communicate with the Laserfiche activation server. This port will need to be open on your firewall for activation to complete.
