Automatic Licensing Updates

Laserfiche Forms 10.4 and later can automatically retrieve licensing updates from Laserfiche Directory Server. This means that changes in the Directory Server primary license that affect Forms can be passed on to Forms without manual configuration.

Turning on this setting is particularly helpful if you have subscription licenses for Forms. When the subscription status is renewed in the Directory Server master license, this renewal can be automatically passed on to Forms.

Enabling Automatic License Updates in Directory Server

  1. In the Directory Server administration site, navigate to Settings.
  2. In the General tab, set Enable Relicensing Notifications to No.
  3. Click Send relicensing notifications to immediately have Directory Server update Forms on any licensing changes. The update is sent once you click the link, even if no licensing changes have occurred. This is a good way to test if the automatic update works.
  4. Select Send notification immediately if you want Directory Server to update the Forms server on license details once any Forms-related license details change.
  5. Select Send notification during scheduled window if you want Directory Server to update Forms on license details on certain days and times. This option can help you avoid downtime caused by license changes during work hours, as you can schedule potentially disruptive license changes to occur outside work hours.

Enabling Automatic License Updates in Forms

Usually, enabling relicensing notifications on the Directory Server administration site is sufficient to ensure that Forms will be automatically updated on any licensing changes. However, it is possible for Directory Server to send those notifications during a time when the Forms server is down. In that scenario, automatic relicensing may fail.

To force automatic relicensing to happen even in that scenario, you can configure Forms to check with Directory Server for updated license details daily and whenever the Forms server starts, as follows.

  1. On the Forms configuration page, navigate to the Forms Server page.
  2. Under Laserfiche Directory Server relicensing settings, select Automatically check LFDS for updated license daily and on application start.
  3. Click Save.
