Creating Tags
Keep the following in mind when creating a tag:
- By default, no user or group will have access to documents and folders that have been assigned a new security tag. Therefore, you should grant new security tags to one or more users before assigning it to any entries. Otherwise the entries will not be accessible to anyone.
- Any user can assign an informational tag to a document or folder. An informational tag will be available for use upon creation.
To create a tag
- Start the Laserfiche Administration Console.
- In the console tree, expand the desired Laserfiche Server.
- Select the desired Laserfiche repository.
- If security has been enabled on that repository, log in as any user who has been granted the Manage Tags privilege for the specified repository.
- Expand the Metadata Management node.
- Select the Tags node.
- From the Action
menu, select New Tag. The New
Tag
dialog box will appear.

- Under Name, enter a name for the tag.
- Under Description, enter a description for the tag.
- Do one of the following:
- To create an informational tag, clear the Security tag check box.
- To create a security tag, select the Security tag check box.
- Optional: If you are using Advanced Audit Trail, you can select the Watermark tab and configure a watermark for this tag. See Tag Watermarks for more information.
- Click OK to create the tag.
To create a tag
- Open the web client management page. Sign in as any user who has been granted the Manage Tags privilege for the specified repository.
- Under Metadata, click Tags.
- Click the Add button.
- Under Name,
enter a name for the tag.
- Optional: Under Description, enter a description for the tag.
- Do one of the following:
- To create an informational tag, clear the Security tag check box.
- To create a security tag, select the Security tag check box.
- Optional: If you are using Advanced Audit Trail, you can select the Watermark tab and configure a watermark for this tag. See Tag Watermarks for more information.
- Optional: Select the Language tab and specify an alternate name for the tag in a different language.
- Click OK to create the tag.
