Enabling the Recycle Bin

The recycle bin is enabled by default on new repositories, but disabled by default on migrated repositories. When you enable the recycle bin, you can also optionally choose to purge items from the recycle bin after they have been in it for more than a certain number of days.

Note: If the recycle bin has been enabled, items will not be permanently removed from the repository until they are purged, either manually or on a schedule. If your security policy requires that documents be deleted immediately, you may not wish to enable the recycle bin.

To enable/disable the recycle bin

  1. Start the Laserfiche Administration Console.
  2. In the console tree, expand the desired Laserfiche Server item.
  3. Select the desired Laserfiche repository.
  4. Expand the Recycle Bin node.

  5. Right-click the Settings node and select Properties. The Settings dialog box will open.
  6. Select Enable recycle bin.
  7. If you want Laserfiche to automatically clear out old entries in the recycle bin, select Age limit (days) on recycled items and specify the maximum age in days for entries in the recycle bin. Laserfiche will periodically check the recycle bin for entries that have exceeded the allotted time and automatically purge them.
  8. Click OK.
