Setting a Folder Filter Expression

Once you have constructed your Folder Filter Expression string, you will need to set it on the folder whose contents should be secured by it. This requires the Manage Filter Expression privilege for the repository and the Write Entry Security entry access right for the folder. By default, Folder Filter Expressions will be inherited by the folder's subfolders and will apply to the contents of those folders as well; if you do not wish the expression to be used by subfolders, you will need to turn off filter expression inheritance for those subfolders. Additionally, Laserfiche does not allow two filter expressions to be active on the same folder at once, so it is necessary to disable filter inheritance to set a filter expression on a folder. If inheritance is enabled but none of the folder's parents have a filter expression, no filter expression will be used for the folder.

  3. Right-click the folder and select Properties.
  4. Select the Folder tab.
  5. If the Inherit filter expression from parent folder option is selected, clear it to enable the Filter Expression option.
  6. In the Filter Expression option, type or paste your filter expression string. See Filter Expression syntax and examples.
  7. Click OK.
