Common Error Messages

The following errors correspond to events that would happen during a Laserfiche installation or while beginning to set up and use your Laserfiche software. If you receive an error message that is not listed here, we recommend that you check the Windows Event Viewer for detailed error messages.

Error Description
183: Cannot create a new file when that file already exists. This is a generic Windows Services error that is returned when a service cannot be successfully started. There are a variety of possible situations that can prevent the Laserfiche Server service from successfully starting. Internal Error 2140 This error typically indicates that an unsuccessful attempt was made to start the Laserfiche Server service. Check the Windows Event Viewer for a more detailed error message.
Internal Error 2203 This Windows Installer error can occur when the SYSTEM user does not have sufficient permissions to a directory used during the installation process. The SYSTEM user should have Full Control on the computer where you are trying to install Laserfiche.
Internal Error 2738 Certain Windows scripting dll files may not be loaded. Register vbscript.dll and jscript.dll. Please see the following Laserfiche Knowledge Base article:

Internal Error 2739 The jscript.dll file is not properly registered. Please see the following Laserfiche Knowledge Base article:

Internal Error 2755 This error occurs if you are running a Terminal Server session and the path to the installation file is a mapped drive. Because the Windows Installer service is running in a different session than the user, the service is unaware of the drive mappings and cannot find the installation files. Internal Error 2908 This error occurs when Windows Installer is unable to correctly install files to the Global Assembly Cache (GAC). Please see the following Laserfiche Knowledge Base article:

Error 9008 This message appears when the Laserfiche Server cannot access the DBMS. Check the Windows Event Viewer for a more detailed message.
