Laserfiche Licensing Overview

In order to install and run, the Laserfiche Server must be properly licensed. Your license determines the product and edition and version, as well as the features that will be installed. For example, to install Laserfiche with Records Management features, you need a Laserfiche Server license containing the Records Management feature. In addition, your Laserfiche license specifies the number of repositories that your Laserfiche Server can host, and the number and type of users that will be able to access repositories on that Server.

Note: The Laserfiche Windows client and Administration Console do not require a license for installation as of version 8.2 and later. However, if you install a legacy Client of version 8.1 or before, you will need a valid license for the version you want to install.

There are three ways to license your installation.

See Installing the Laserfiche Server for more information.

If you use an activation key or register to a Laserfiche Rio License Manager Server, your license file will be generated silently and placed in the Laserfiche Server installation folder. If you provide a license file, it will be copied to that location. The license file is an XML file named lf.licx.
