Localized Field, Template, and Tag Names

Your organization may include people who speak different languages, working with the same documents and information. If this is the case, you can configure localized field, template, and tag names. For instance, if your organization includes both English and Spanish speakers, you might provide both "Employee Name" and "Nombre del Empleado" as names for a field in your Employee Information template; if your organization primarily speaks French but has some English speakers, you might name a tag both "Confidentiel" and "Confidential." Laserfiche supports localized template, field, and tag names for English, Arabic, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese (Brazilian), Chinese (Simplified), Chinese (Traditional), and Thai.

The user's language settings determine which language the localized template, field, or tag name will appear for them when they open a document's metadata in the client. In the Laserfiche web client, you can view your language settings by opening the Options page and selecting General (by default, it will match your browser language); in the Windows client, open the View menu and select Choose Language.... If a user has their language set to a language for which no localized name has been configured, they will see the original name of the field.

Note: The Localized metadata feature is only supported in the Laserfiche web access and not in the Application Programming Interface, which returns the default names for fields, templates or tags.
