Orphaned Folder

After attaching a volume or migrating a repository, a folder called "Orphaned" may be created in the root folder of your repository. This folder is created to store all documents that have not been associated with a valid parent folder. The two circumstances under which the "Orphaned" folder is created are described below.

• Volume Attach: A user can export a volume without retaining folder information.  In some cases, when this volume is later attached, the files will not have a valid folder ID to use during the merge and Laserfiche will store all documents associated with that volume in the "Orphaned" folder.
• Repository Migration: A migrated repository can contain documents that are not associated with a valid parent folder. These documents are often empty and are usually caused by an incomplete deletion process at some point in the past of the source repository. During the migration process, Laserfiche places these documents in the "Orphaned" folder.
