Searching by Disposition

A search can be performed by disposition action and eligibility date. Or, use the disposition eligibility or final disposition action advanced search syntax.

Note:  If a record within a record folder is returned by your disposition search, the record folder will also be returned, even if the folder itself does not match your search. This allows you to quickly process all eligible documents within the folder.

To search by disposition

  1. Open the Search Pane by clicking the Search button from the toolbar.
  2. From the Records Management Search drop-down menu, select Disposition.
  3. From the ClosedDisposition search option, under Search for records with the following disposition action, select the type of disposition action(s) you want to search for. This search will return record series, record folders, and records.

  4. To limit your search results to only records and record folders that are eligible for the specified types of disposition actions, select Find records that are and do one of the following:
    • To search for records that are currently eligible for the specified disposition actions, select Currently eligible for disposition.
    • To search for records that are eligible for the specified disposition actions within a date range, select Eligible from, and enter the start and end dates. To select a date from a calendar, click the calendar button.
  5. Click Search at the bottom of the Search Pane.
  1. Open the Search Pane by clicking the Search tab.
  2. Click Records Management from the Select a search type drop-down menu. Select the checkbox next to Disposition under Show, and click OK.
  3. Select Search for records with the following disposition action, select the type of disposition action(s) you want to search for.
  4. To limit your search results to only records that are eligible for the specified types of disposition actions, select Find records that are and do one of the following:
    • To search for records that are currently eligible for the specified disposition actions, select Currently eligible for disposition.
    • To search for records that are eligible for the specified disposition actions within a date range, select Eligible from, and enter the start and end dates. To select a date from a calendar, click the calendar button.
  5. Click Search at the bottom of the Search Pane.

Tip: Leave the field for one end of the date range blank to search for records or record folders that are eligible before or on a specified date (blank field for start date), eligible on or after a specified date (blank field for end date). You can also leave both ends of the date range blank to search for all records with a defined eligibility date.
