Editing Microsoft Office Documents
If an administrator has installed and configured an Office Online Server and the Laserfiche Document Co-Authoring Host for Microsoft Office, users will be able to edit Microsoft Office documents within the app and simultaneously.
Important: If this feature is enabled and multiple users are editing a document, auditing and version control will not be able to correctly assign edits to specific users. If you have a restrictive auditing policy, you should not enable this option and continue to use the Check-In/Check-Out feature to edit electronic documents for editing.
To edit a Microsoft Office document (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.)
- Navigate to and open the document.
- Once open, press Edit in Browser at the top of the page.
- Office Online will open the document for editing. Make your desired changes.
- In the toolbar at the bottom, you can:
- Press the Save Offline Copy button to save a copy of the document offline.
- Press the More Options button to switch views (read-only), share, rename, or start a process on the document.
- When finished, press the X in the top left corner to close the document. You changes will be automatically saved.
Note: Phones with low resolution will not allow you to edit the Office document.
Note: Editing the Office document's metadata is not currently supported when using the Office Online Server to edit an Office document in the app.
