Syncing Offline Documents and Folders

Changes to repository documents and folders can be automatically or manually synced with their offline copies. For example, if a repository document is saved offline, and a user edits field values in the online repository version, the offline copy will be updated automatically. Or, the user can press the Sync button or sign out and back in to manually update the offline copy with the new field values.

Additionally, an administrator can configure the app to automatically sync documents after certain time intervals, for example, every 5 minutes. For more information, see the Configuring a Document Sync Interval topic.

Note: Entries can only be synced one way and all at one time. All online modifications will be synced to their offline counterparts.

Actions that are synced include template and field changes, renaming a document or folder, redacting a portion of a document, adding a document to a folder, and deleting a document or folder.

If you do not want your documents automatically synced, turn off the Sync option under Settings. It's on by default.

Note: If a folder in the root of the offline folder structure has an online copy in the repository that gets deleted, the offline copy of the folder will remain to account for any documents in the online folder being restored from the recycle bin to that folder. However, the offline folder's contents will be removed. Opening the offline folder will display a message letting the user know the folder has been deleted online. The folder can be removed manually using the Remove Offline Copy option in the More menu.

Note: You can only sync entries saved offline from the repository.

To sync documents or folders manually

  1. You must be signed into the repository.
  2. Select Documents under Offline Copies in the main menu.
  3. Select From Laserfiche at the top.
  4. Press the Sync button Sync Button in the top right corner. Or, sign out of the Laserfiche Forms server and then sign back in.

Note: If you do not see the Sync button, ensure you are signed in.

To sync a document or folder automatically

  • After making changes to the online document or folder, the changes will automatically be synced to the corresponding offline document or folder without any further actions.
