What's New in the Laserfiche 10.3 App?
Laserfiche Mobile Configuration Page
The following new options have been added to the Laserfiche Mobile Configuration page to support new 10.3 features:
- Document Location: The Add a field for geotag information and prompt for address option lets administrators add a field for geolocation coordinates, as well as require users to enter an address or location description for a newly snapped photo or gallery photo uploaded as a new document.
- Alternate Service: This option lets administrators set up an alternate service, for example, to facilitate when a Laserfiche Mobile Server and an instance of the Security Token Service is installed in the DMZ with Directory Sever itself residing in the internal network.
- Services: The new Services tab lets administrators configure the following:
- Office Online Server: This option lets users work on Microsoft Office documents simultaneously in the app.
- Import Services: This option lets users import documents from OneDrive or Goggle Drive on their mobile device without having the third-party app also installed. The documents will import directly from the web site.
- Map Settings: This option lets administrators configure a Google Map API key or Bing Map API key so users can use the Maps feature.
Laserfiche App
Forms Menu Reorganization
The Laserfiche Forms main menu has been redesigned for a better user experience. The Laserfiche app has mirrored the changes for a seamless user experience.
Offline Drafts
Users can start a task or form online, save it as a draft, then save the draft offline to continue working while on the go without internet or cellular service. Offline task drafts can also be renamed to prevent overwriting information on task drafts previously saved offline.
Sync repository entries, tasks, and drafts
Changes to online and offline repository documents and folders, as well as task and form drafts, can be automatically or manually synced. A new Sync option controls automatic syncing.
Save to SD Card (Android only)
After initially installing the app, saving a document offline will ask users if they want to save copies to their SD card instead of their phone memory.
New Settings
Sync: This option, on by default, controls if online and offline copies of documents, folders, form tasks, and task drafts are updated automatically when their counterparts are modified.
Search Features
- The search pane has been updated to be more intuitive and uniform across multiple platforms.
- You can now search on specific field values.
- You can now set up searches and save them using the app.
- You can use the iOS Spotlight search to search for offline documents and forms by process name, task name, forms name, and document name.
Note: The Spotlight search does not support searching offline Laserfiche items on iPhone 4S, iPad2, iPad (3rd generation), iPad mini, or iPad touch (5th generation).
Folder Browser
Browse through folders quickly with a new quick scroll bar and sort entries by name, date modified, date created, or template in ascending or descending order.
Versions
In addition to tracking document versions, you can now view, revert, and delete document versions within the app.
Annotations
There have been a variety of updates to annotations in the Laserfiche app.
- The way in which annotations are applied to documents has been redesigned for a better user experience.
- In addition to adding sticky notes, stamps, and freehand annotations to documents, you can now add highlights, redactions, underlines, and strikethrough annotations to documents and text.
- When adding a redaction, users can be required to choose a reason they are adding the redaction.
Metadata
Similar to the Web client, users can now access and work with a document or folder's metadata in a single pane.
Document Links
Users can now create document links and relationships using the app.
Maps
The new Maps feature lets users associate a location with new documents so they can search for the documents based on their location on a map. For example, a police department can see all incident reports uploaded in certain neighborhoods in the city.
Document Viewer Buttons
You can now customize the document viewer toolbar for easy access to actions you commonly use.
Android App Shortcuts
When using Android 7.1.1 or later, you can long press the Laserfiche app icon and use shortcuts to work with documents.
Microsoft Office Documents
Multiple users can now edit Microsoft Office documents simultaneously in the app.
