Last Modified Search

The Last Modified search enables users to search based on the date a document was modified. Users can search based on a variety of criteria: documents modified on a particular date, before or after a particular date, during a particular period, or within a certain number of days, weeks, months or years.

To search for documents by modification date

  1. In the Search Pane, click Select a search type and select Last Modified from the menu. If it is not in the menu, click More... to open the Search Attributes dialog box to add it. You can also click More... next to Select a search type.

Note: By default, the Last Modified search is in the Select a search type menu.

  2. Select one of the following from the drop-down menu.

    • Any time: Returns all entries modified at any time. This option is useful if the date range does not matter. For example, if you choose Any time, it temporarily removes the date range criteria from the search without removing the actual search type, Last Modified, from the Search Pane. This would be a good way to experiment with different date ranges without removing the search type completely.
    • Today: Returns all entries modified on the same day the search is performed.
    • Since yesterday: Returns all entries modified on the same day the search is performed or the day before.
    • This week: Returns all entries modified on or since the first day of the week. The first day of the week varies depending on location settings, but is generally Sunday or Monday.
    • Within last 2 weeks: Returns all entries modified since the first day or the prior week. The first day of the week varies depending on location settings, but is generally Sunday or Monday.
    • This month: Returns all entries modified since the first day of the month.
    • Within last 2 months: Returns all entries modified since the first day of the prior month.
    • Within last: Allows the user to specify a number of days, weeks, months, or years, and then returns all entries that were modified in that time period.
    • Exactly: Allows the user to specify a date, and then returns all entries that were created on that date.
    • Before: Allows the user to specify a date, and then returns all entries that were modified before that date.
    • After: Allows the user to specify a date, and then returns all entries that were modified after that date.
    • Between: Allows the user to specify two dates, and then returns all entries that were modified between those dates, including the specified dates.
  3. Click Search.
