Pages Search

The Pages search enables users to search for a document based on its page count or based on whether it contains text (whether that text was generated by OCR, extracted from an electronic file, or created in some other way). This search is primarily useful for locating documents that are not currently full-text searchable.

The Pages search enables users to search for documents by whether they contain image or text pages or by whether OCR processing has been applied to the images associated with that document. Select the first option to find documents that contain More Than, Exactly, or Less Than a specified number of pages. Select the second option to find documents with All Pages, Some, or No pages processed by OCR.

To search by pages

  1. In the Search Pane, click Select a search type and select Pages from the menu. If it is not in the menu, click More... to open the Search Attributes dialog box to add it. You can also click More... next to Select a search type.

Note: By default, the Pages search is in the Select a search type menu.

  2. To search by page count, select the Contains checkbox and do the following:
    • Use the drop-down menu to select if you want to search for documents with more than, exactly, less than, or between the specified number of pages.
    • In the text box, specify a page count for your search.
  3. To search based on the presence or absence of text pages, select the Contains OCR text on checkbox and do one of the following:
    • To find documents that have text pages corresponding to all of their image pages or that have electronic documents with text extracted, select all pages.
    • To find documents that have one or more (but not all) text pages corresponding to their image pages, select some pages.
    • To find documents that have no text pages corresponding to their image pages, select no pages.
  4. Click Search.
