Installing the Laserfiche Distributed Computing Cluster Service
Distributed Computing Cluster uses a group of machines to perform work for Laserfiche applications. Before it can be used, the Distributed Computing Cluster service must be installed as a Scheduler on one machine. For multi-node clusters, Distributed Computing Cluster must be installed as a Scheduler on one machine and as a Worker on one or more other machines.
To install the Laserfiche Distributed Computing Cluster Service
- Double-click Autorun.exe in the Distributed Computing Cluster install package and click Install Laserfiche Distributed Computing Cluster.
- In the Language selection step, select a language for the installer.
- In the Welcome step, click Next.
- In the End-User License Agreement step, read the license agreement and select I accept the terms in the License Agreement if you agree to the terms of the license agreement. Click Next to continue.
- In the Choose Setup Type step, select whether the service will be installed as a Scheduler or a Worker.
- If you are installing the service as a Scheduler, in the Laserfiche Product Activation step specify the desired method for activating Laserfiche Distributed Computing Cluster. If you have an activation key, select the Activate online using the following activation key option and specify the activation key in the text box. The installation will contact Laserfiche over the Internet at the end of the installation. If you received a license file, select the Activate using license file option and browse to the path where the Distributed Computing Cluster license file can be found. If you are using Directory Server, select the Activate using the Directory Server option. Click Next to continue.
Note: If you are using Laserfiche Directory Server for license management and you have configured organizations, the Organization path option will be displayed after this step. Select the organization you want to use in this option.
- In the Service Settings step, specify the credentials that the Distributed Computing Cluster service will run as. Select the Create Windows Firewall exception checkbox to create exceptions on the ports (8107 and 8108) that Distributed Computing Cluster uses. Click Next to continue.
- In the Ready to Install step, click Install to start the installation process. When the installation has completed, click Next to proceed.
- In the Prerequisites step, click Run. When the prerequisites have finished installing, click Next to continue. When Laserfiche Distributed Computing Cluster has finished installing, click Next.
- Click Finish to exit the installation wizard.
- Once you've installed the Distributed Computing Cluster service on each machine that will be part of the cluster, you'll need to configure the cluster using the Laserfiche Web Administration Console.
Note: To ensure the service has appropriate rights, we recommend allowing the Distributed Computing Cluster service to run as Local System.
Important: Distributed Computing Cluster is performing OCR jobs, images are downloaded to the following directory on the DCCWorker machines: C:\ProgramData\Laserfiche\Distributed Computing Cluster\Temp. Although DCC cleans these files up, Administrators should be aware of this and apply security to these folders if necessary.
