Installing WebLink

Important: If upgrading to a newer minor (i.e., 10.1 to 10.2) or major (i.e., 10 to 11) version of WebLink, you will need to back up all your settings using the WebLink Settings Bundler's export option. The upgrade process will overwrite all existing configuration. After upgrading, use the Weblink Settings Bundler's import option to restore your configuration.
  1. Open the installation package. A menu displaying WebLink installation options should appear. If it does not, run Setup.exe from the root folder.
  2. In the Language Selection dialog, select the language for the installation. Click OK. This language setting only affects the installer, not the product itself.
  3. In the Welcome Step, click Next.
  4. In the End-User License Agreement step, read the license agreement and select I accept the terms in the License Agreement if you agree to the terms of the license agreement. Click Next to continue.
  5. In the Custom Setup step, select where you want to install WebLink. Click Next.
  6. In the Laserfiche Product Activation step, specify how you will activate your installation and click Next to continue.
    • If you have an activation key, select the Activate online using the following activation key option and enter the activation key in the text box. The activation process will run after the installation is complete.
    • Important: Activation uses port 443 to communicate with the Laserfiche activation server. This port must be open on your firewall for activation to complete.

    • If you received a license file, select the Activate using the following license file option and browse to the path where the Laserfiche WebLink license file can be found.
    • If you are activating by registering your Server with Laserfiche Directory Server, select Activate using the Laserfiche Directory Server. In that case, you will need to complete additional steps.
  7. If you chose to activate using the Laserfiche Directory Server, you will be prompted to complete the following additional steps. If not, skip to step 10.
    1. In the first Register to a Laserfiche Directory Server step, in the Laserfiche Directory Server option, type the name of your Laserfiche Directory Server computer. In the Log on as option, select whether to log in as the current Windows user or as another Windows user. Click Next to continue.
    2. In the next step, in the License database option, select the license database for your installation. In the License block option, select the WebLink license you want to use. In most cases, there will be only one license database and only one WebLink license block.
    3. In the same step, select whether to use an existing registration or register a new instance. If you or your administrator already registered this computer, select Use existing registration and then choose the computer from the list. If not, select Register new instance. Click Next to continue.
    4. Note: If the available license information seems incomplete or out of date, you may need to renew your master license to get the most current information. Click Renew Master License to do so.

    5. If your site has organizations configured, the Organization path option will be displayed. Specify the organization to which you want to register this installation.
    6. In the final step, review the settings for your new Laserfiche Directory Server registration. Click Next and proceed with the installation.
  8. In the Ready to Install step, click Install to start the installation process.
  9. If the installation has prerequisites that are not installed, the installation will begin by installing those prerequisites. In the Prerequisites step, review the prerequisites that will be installed. Note that some prerequisites (such as IIS) cannot be installed by the installation and must be installed by you; if that is the case, the installation will display a list of the required prerequisites and stop. Click Run to continue. Once all prerequisites are installed, click Next.

    Important: The Laserfiche WebLink installation will attempt to install Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 if it is not already installed. However, some versions of Windows Server require you to install .NET Framework 4.5 manually. If the .NET Framework 4.5 prerequisite installation fails during this step, you should cancel the installation and install it manually. See Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5 for more information.

  10. When the installation process is complete, click Next. On the last step, choose to View the ReadMe file and/or Launch Laserfiche WebLink Designer. Click Finish.
