Move Laserfiche Directory Server to a New Server
There may be a need to move or migrate Laserfiche Directory Server to a new server. These steps cover how to install, configure, and migrate licenses to a new server.
Note: Deactivation and activation of a license database should happen automatically when you detach and attach it; when you attach, you will need to provide your activation key or primary license again.
Moving Laserfiche Directory Server
Follow these steps to detach the licensing site, install Laserfiche Directory Server on a new server, and reattach the licensing site.
- Detach the licensing site, but do not delete the licensing database.
- Install Laserfiche Directory Server on the new server.
- Attach the licensing site while referencing the existing licensing database.
Note: The Directory Server fully qualified domain name (FQDN) is written to the application licenses so they know where to call back and validate the license. When migrating Directory Server machines, you can create a DNS alias for the old machine's FQDN that points to the new machine, and avoid regenerating the product license files.
