Unable to Automatically Configure TLS Certificate Error

When upgrading or installing Laserfiche Directory Server an error dialog box stating Unable to Automatically Configure TLS Certificate or Configure TLS Certificate Error may pop up when dismissing the XMLEndpointUtility.

If upgrading from a working Directory Server 10.4.3 or newer installation, this dialog is expected and can typically be skipped by clicking OK.

If upgrading from Directory Server 10.4.2 or earlier, there may be an existing certificate bound to the port by another application, or an unexpected error with the certificate binding has occurred.

Resolution

To skip new certificate configuration, click OK and exit the utility.

Alternatively, if port 5049 is not being used by another application, you may click Cancel and use Delete Current Binding to remove any existing certificate. Then, bind a new certificate.

Note: To learn more about certificate requirements, see Certificate Types & Requirements. To troubleshoot certificate binding further such as viewing any existing bindings, see Netsh http commands.
