Laserfiche App Picker
The Laserfiche app picker allows you to quickly navigate to other parts of your Laserfiche system. You can configure it to display links to any Laserfiche web application, or to other websites entirely. For example, an administrator might choose to display the Repository Web Client, Forms, and Audit Trail in the app picker, as well as their internal website that lists document handling policies. All of these pages would be linked in the app picker for users in the application for which you configured it.
Using the App Picker
In the Laserfiche Repository Web Client or Laserfiche Forms, select the app picker () in the upper left corner and select the application or website you want to open.
Enabling and Configuring the App Picker
Before it can be used, the app picker must be installed and configured by a user with access to either the Repository Web Client configuration page or the Forms configuration page. To do so, perform the following steps:
-
Navigate to either the Laserfiche Repository Client configuration page or the Forms configuration page.
-
Select App Picker from the left-hand menu.
-
Select or toggle Enable App Picker.
-
Under either User or Administration, select Add App Shortcut.
Note: Categorizing app shortcuts as User or Administration is for convenience in organization only. It is not tied to any Laserfiche security; all users will see both sections, although they will only be able to log in to an applications if they have the proper credentials.
-
Under Application Shortcut, select the icon you want to use for the shortcut in the app picker. Under User, you can choose the Web Client product icon, or the Forms product icon, Under Administration, you can choose Web Client Management or Forms Configuration. In both sections, you can select Custom Link to use a general link icon.
-
Under Display Name, provide the label you want users to see in the app picker. This can be the name of the linked application, or any other name you want.
Tip: If you know how your users are most likely to recognize a shortcut, you can tailor this to their needs. For example, a link to the Web Client could be called that, but it could also be called "Repository," or your individual repository name. This is useful if you are working with multiple repositories and want links in the app picker specific to each one.
-
Under URL, specify the full URL for the application or website that you want to create a shortcut to. This can be a Laserfiche application, but it does not need to be.
-
To add additional links, select Add App Shortcut and repeat steps 4-8.
-
Select Save.
Important: Configuring the app picker in one application will not configure it for another. You will need to repeat the steps above for both the Repository Web Client and Forms.
Please note the following:
-
If the app picker has not been enabled by an administrator, the app picker button will not be displayed.
-
If the app picker has been enabled, but no applications or websites have been configured for it, it will show a link to the help files.
-
The app picker will only be displayed in the Repository Web Client and Forms, but it can link to any web application.
-
The app picker will only be displayed if the Repository Web Client and Forms have been configured to use Directory Server for single sign-on.
