How Does Licensing Affect Authorization?
There are two types of Laserfiche licenses: full-featured
and retrieval-only. The type of license that will be used depends solely on whether a user has been configured as a read-only user. If a user has been specified as read-only, that user will only be able to view the information
stored in the repository. The user will not be allowed to add or change
information stored in the repository. For example, exporting, printing,
and searching are read-only actions, while importing, OCRing,
and adding annotations are considered full-featured actions, and will not be possible for that user. This is true even if the user has been granted rights that allow modification of the repository, such as the Modify Contents entry access right.
Other applications, such as Laserfiche WebLink, may also restrict the actions that can be performed on a repository. This does not impact license usage, however; those applications will still require a full-featured license unless the user in question has been set as read-only.
