Advanced Server Options: Log Files

In this tab of the Advanced Server Options dialog box, you can configure whether log files will be compressed and/or deleted. Periodically compressing or deleting old log files can help keep your database at a reasonable size.

To configure log files options

  1. Select the Advanced Server Options node or any server details in the center Details Pane.
  2. Click Properties in the Actions Pane, or right-click and select Properties.
  3. Select the ClosedLog Files tab of the Advanced Server Options dialog box.
  4. Select to Compress log files and/or Delete old log files. Configure how often log files will be compressed or deleted by typing a number next to each option or using the scroll box (up-and-down arrows) to specify a number.
  5. Note: These settings apply to all log files, such as error logs, subscriber trace logs, service logs, and migration logs.

    • If you select to Compress log files, you can choose to Merge overflow logs into one file (instead of keeping potentially thousands of separate files). Next to Frequency, you can specify how often old log files will be compressed.
    • If you select to Delete old log files, next to Lifetime, specify how old log files must be before they are deleted. Next to Frequency, specify how often Workflow will look for old log files to delete.
