General Attributes

These are client-wide settings or administrative settings for the web client or Windows client.

Language and Locale

By default, the web client will determine language and locale based on the language settings of the user's browser. Language determines the language that strings appear in, while locale determines how numbers are formatted how dates and times are formatted, and what calendar to use. If the user prefers a different language or locale from the default ones determined from the browser, they can change [Settings]Language, [Settings]Locale, and [Settings]Calendar. These three attributes do not affect the Windows client. Language in the Windows client is controlled by [Options]LanguageISO, while the locale is taken from the locale of the Windows system.

See the OCR page for OCR language settings.

[Settings]Language

Allows you to set the language that strings appear in for the web client. This overrides the browser's default settings. It does not affect locale settings.

Valid values:

  • Strings corresponding to locale names, e.g. "en-US", "th", "ar-KW".

[Settings]Locale

Web client only. Overrides the default locale settings that were determined from the browser. The calendar specified by this setting is overridden by [Settings]Calendar.

Valid values:

  • Strings corresponding to locale names, e.g. "en-US", "th", "ar-KW".

Default value: en-US

[Settings]Calendar

This attribute is used to determine the calendar used in the web client, overriding both the user's web browser settings and the calendar set in [Settings]Locale. It does not affect non-calendar locale settings, such as number formats and date formats.

Note: Some calendars are not compatible with certain locale settings. If [Settings]Calendar specifies a calendar that is not compatible with the prevailing locale settings, then the web client will use the default calendar for that locale.
