Trustee Attributes
Trustee attributes are specific to a particular user—if one user customizes the column display for the Laserfiche web or Windows client, they will see their own column display, but other users won't be affected. These attributes are stored on the Server, which allows an individual to use their own settings regardless of which workstation they use to access Laserfiche.
A user with the Manage Trustees privilege can view user attributes for individual users, set attributes manually, copy attributes from one user to another, or export or import attributes. For instance, you could use this process to copy a column display setting from one user and paste it into several other users to give them the same column display, or to export settings from one repository's Everyone group and import them to another.
To change the default attribute for all users in the repository, you can set attributes for the Everyone group. The Everyone group setting will function as a new default value, and will affect all users who do not have a customized column display setting of their own. However, users who have customized their own column display will not be affected by this new default.
In addition, you can set trustee attributes for Windows domain or LDAP directory groups. Those settings will be inherited by members of those groups. This allows you to configure trustee attributes even if you have not individually added each Windows or LDAP user to your repository.
When determining what settings to apply, the Laserfiche web or Windows client will first use an individual user's attributes. If the user does not have a particular attribute set, the client will refer to the attribute set on the Everyone group. If that attribute has not been set, it will check the registry. (Registry values may have been set for the user when using a previous version of Laserfiche.) If the particular setting does not have an entry in any of these attributes, the standard default value will be used.
Administrators can use the settings lockdown feature to prevent users or groups from configuring specific sets of options in the Laserfiche web or Windows client. If a user's settings have been locked down, the relevant attributes for the locked settings will be ignored, and instead the attributes on the Everyone group will be used. (If the relevant attribute was not set on the Everyone group, the general defaults will be used.) Users who were not locked down will still use their own attributes normally. See Settings Lockdown for more information.
For a list of selected attributes and what settings they control, see Selected Trustee Attributes.
Note: Trustee attributes should be set either on individual Laserfiche users, on Windows Accounts or LDAP Accounts users, or on the Everyone group. The ability to set attributes on groups is included for use with integrations and customizations only.
