Laserfiche Snapshot Security & Data Validation
The two main reasons that Laserfiche Snapshot requires a connection to the Laserfiche repository are security and data validation. By prompting users to authenticate to a Laserfiche repository, Snapshot ensures that Laserfiche security is not bypassed. The current user will only be able to see the folders, fields, tags, and volumes to which he or she has been granted access. Additionally, this ensures that an unauthorized user does not abuse Snapshot to create content in a Laserfiche folder to which he or she does not have sufficient rights.
Data validation is another important reason why Laserfiche Snapshot establishes a connection to a Laserfiche repository. After a user successfully authenticates to a Laserfiche repository, Snapshot will refresh the list of available templates, fields, volumes, and tags. If any of the previously configured settings do not match the updated information obtained from the repository, those settings will be reset to a default configuration.
