File Set

A file set provides an organized way to handle files that should remain grouped together through a process. On a form, the file set field allows an end user to upload documents while providing controls on file types, quantity, and categorization of those documents. The uploads are then stored in a specified location within the repository as a group.

Field settings

To edit a file set field

  1. Select the field on the canvas and click Edit.
  2. Under Field label, enter the field label that will appear next to the field on the form. Click the Insert variables button to insert a variable into the label.
  3. Under File set, select the file set configuration to use. See Managing File Sets for information on creating and managing file sets.
  4. Under Variable, specify a name for the field variable associated with this field. If you do not specify a variable name, Laserfiche will automatically assign the field one based on its label.
  5. Under Field options in Classic Designer or File Options in Form Designer select from the following additional options:
    • Read-only if users should not be allowed to modify this field.
    • Allow Download if users are allowed to download a copy of the files in the file set.
    • Allow Import if users are allowed to add files to the file set, and select whether files can be added from the repository, their local machine, or both. By default, this option is selected and set to local.
  6. Under Text above field and Text below field, you can enter any additional text that should appear with the field. Click the Insert Variables button to include a variable with this text.
  7. In Classic Designer, under Field width, specify how wide the field will appear on the form - the preview will reflect the selection.
  8. Under Maximum field height, specify the height, in pixels, of the field.
  9. In Form Designer, you can specify column configuration by choosing Use global column settings or Use custom column settings to customize which columns are shown.
  10. To configure advanced options, click the Advanced tab.
  11. When you are finished editing the field settings, click Done. Your changes will be saved automatically.
