Configuring DocuSign Settings
This topic focuses on configuration steps that must be performed by an administrator prior to users being able to request a DocuSign signature on documents stored in a Laserfiche repository.
Configuring DocuSign and Laserfiche to allow you to directly request signatures on your documents requires some additional steps:
- You must configure DocuSign to communicate with Laserfiche.
- You must specify account information for your DocuSign account in Laserfiche, and determine what DocuSign information to store in your documents.
Note: The integration requires a DocuSign production account.
Setting Up DocuSign to Communicate with Laserfiche
- In DocuSign, view your DocuSign Settings.
- Under Integrations, click Connect.
- Under Add Configuration, click Custom.
- In the URL to publish to option, specify the URL to the import web service. By default, the URL will look similar to the following, with 000ab000 replaced with the actual value in your URL:
- In the Name option, specify a display name for this DocuSign Connect service.
- Enable the Legacy data format option.
- Enable the Aggregate event message delivery mode.
- Enable the following general options:
- Enable Log (maximum 100)
- Require Acknowledgment
- In the Envelope and Recipients section, enable the following options:
- Document PDFs
- Time Zone Information
- Include Sender Account as Custom Field
- In the Trigger Events for Envelope and Recipients section, configure when DocuSign will send information to Laserfiche. Laserfiche supports the following event types:
- Envelope Signed/Completed

Note: If your repository is hosted on the Canada or EU datacenters, replace .com with .ca or .eu respectively.
Configuring DocuSign Import Settings in Laserfiche
- If you are not already in the repository administration section of Laserfiche, click the app picker in the upper right corner and select Repository Administration.
- Under Integrations, select DocuSign.
- In the DocuSign Account Integrations section, specify the DocuSign API account ID, email address, and app password linked to the email profile (instead of the DocuSign account password for your DocuSign account).
Note: The specified account must have the Allow send on behalf of other users through API permission enabled.
Note: To locate your application password, sign in to your DocuSign account and select your user name in the upper right corner. Select Manage Profile and then Privacy & Security. The password will be available under the Additional Security header. To locate your integration key, select Apps and Keys under Integrations in the sidebar.
- Optional: In the Envelope Status section, specify how signed documents will be stored in Laserfiche. For each event (Completed, Declined, Voided, Sent, and Delivered), you can select the corresponding event tab and do the following:
- To store DocuSign information in Laserfiche fields, click Add/remove fields and select one or more fields, then type a token or use the token picker to select a token that corresponds to the DocuSign information you want to store. See DocuSign Tokens for more information on available tokens.
- To specify where documents will be stored, type a path in the Folder path option. You can also make the path dynamic using tokens; type a token or use the token picker to select a token that corresponds to the DocuSign information that you want to use to create the path. See DocuSign Tokens for more information on available tokens.
- Optional: If you want to receive error messages pertaining to errors encountered when using the DocuSign integration, select Send error notifications. In the Recipients option, type the email address or addresses (separated with a comma) to which you want the messages to be sent, and then select the desired event log level:
- Error: Only log major errors.
- Warning: In addition to major errors, the integration also logs minor issues (e.g., field mismatch errors).
- Information: Verbose logging.
- Click Save to save your changes.
Repository Access
The integration signs in to the repository using a dedicated Laserfiche user named DocuSignUser. Administrators can configure repository entry access rights for this user.
