Once the Laserfiche Server and the Laserfiche Full-Text Indexing and Search Engine have been installed, they can be started and stopped and the startup type can be modified in the Services component of Administrative Tools. The following procedures explain how to perform basic service administration on the Laserfiche Server and the Full-Text Search Engine.
To view the properties of the Laserfiche services
- Open the Control Panel.
- Open Administrative Tools from the Control Panel.
- Open Services from Administrative Tools.
- Double-click the Laserfiche Server service to view the properties of the Laserfiche Server or the Laserfiche Full-Text Indexing and Search Engine service to view the properties of the Full-Text Search Engine. The properties dialog box will appear.
To start, restart, or stop the Laserfiche services
The Laserfiche Server service can also be started or stopped within the Laserfiche Administration Console. See Laserfiche Server Service for more information.
- Open Services and select either the Laserfiche Server service or the Laserfiche Full-Text Indexing and Search Engine service.
- Do one of the following:
- To start the selected service: From the Action menu, select Start.
- To restart the selected service: From the Action menu, select Restart.
- To stop the selected service: From the Action menu, select Stop.
To change the log in options for the Laserfiche services
- Open Services and view the properties for the Laserfiche Server service or the Laserfiche Full-Text Indexing and Search Engine service by double-clicking it. The properties dialog box will appear.
- From the Log On tab, choose one of the following options:
- Local system account: This should only be used when all of your volumes and your database management system will reside on the computer hosting the Laserfiche Server, and the Full-Text Search and Indexing Engine will also be on the same computer as the Laserfiche Server.
- This account: A domain account can be specified for any type of configuration. However, the specified domain account must meet the following requirements:
- The account must either have administrative privileges on the current computer, or you must complete the steps in Knowledge Base Article 1012613 for the account.
- The account must have read and write rights to the folders where volumes will be stored.
- If you are using Microsoft SQL Server, the account must be associated with a SQL login. All local administrators on the SQL server computer are associated with a SQL login and can be used for this purpose. Alternately, you can use an account that is not a local administrator as long as the account has the rights to log in to SQL server and is set as the owner of any databases created for use with Laserfiche.
- Click OK to save your changes.
Note: If you want to allow users to log in using Windows Authentication, the Laserfiche Server service must run as a Windows account.
