Read-Only Users

You can specify that a particular user should only have read-only access to the repository. A user designated in this fashion will only be able to view documents in the repository, not modify them, regardless of their other security settings. Assuming they have the appropriate repository rights, they will be able to search or browse for, open, print, and export documents, but not change them in any way.

For Laserfiche Team and Laserfiche United installations, read-only users will use a retrieval license when accessing the repository, rather than a full license. For Laserfiche Avante and Laserfiche Rio installations, the read-only option only affects a user's access; it does not affect their license. If a Laserfiche Rio user is granted a retrieval license, they will automatically be marked as read-only in the repository as a convenience, but the read-only setting is separate from the license. Switching the user to a full license will not automatically remove the read-only setting.

Note: The read-only option has no effect on users with the Manage Trustees privilege. These users always have full-featured access to the repository, and should be granted a full license. This ensures that at least one user can always access the repository, and therefore that the repository is never accidentally made inaccessible to everyone.
