Configuring Access to Documents and Folders
Entry access rights control what operations a user can perform on documents and folders in a repository. Some examples of access rights include the ability to:
- Browse the contents of a folder.
- Open and view the pages of a document.
- Modify the pages of a document.
In a new repository, the following privileges will automatically be granted:
- The ADMIN user will be granted all entry access rights for the root folder, inherited through all folders, subfolders, and documents.
- The EVERYONE group will be granted the Browse, Read, and Read ACL entry access rights for the root folder, inherited through all folders, subfolders, and documents.
Note: These settings only apply to a fresh repository with no contents. Existing repositories and migrated repositories will retain their original security.
Generally, you should limit the entry access rights granted to the EVERYONE group. Access rights should then be allowed or denied on a per group basis. When configuring security on folders, take advantage of entry access rights inheritance.
