Setting Up the User Account
A service can be configured to use either the local system account or a domain account.
- A local system account has sufficient privileges to work with files and applications on the same workstation. If your volumes and the DBMS are on the same computer as the Laserfiche Server, you can safely select local system account.
- If either your DBMS or your volume files are located on a different computer, use a domain account, which can be any Windows user in the same domain as the computer hosting the Laserfiche Server. When specifying a domain account, keep in mind that this user will need to have sufficient privileges to read and write files to the directories in which your volumes are located. This user also needs to be able to authenticate to the DBMS and read/write data in the database. (A domain administrator has sufficient rights, although the user need not be a domain administrator.) If the desired user account does not have sufficient rights, you will need to grant the necessary permissions to that user or select another user account.
