Configuring Default Volume Security

When a new volume is created, by default Laserfiche will assign certain rights for that volume, in order to make it accessible. You can customize default volume security to create new settings that will be applied whenever a volume is created. For instance, you might want to grant additional rights to an administrators' group by default.

Default security makes use of a special designator called CREATOR. This is not an actual user, but a stand-in for the volume's creator. When the volume is created, the rights configured for CREATOR will be automatically applied to whichever user created the volume.

To modify default volume access rights

  1. Start the Laserfiche Administration Console.
  2. In the console tree, expand the desired Laserfiche Server item.
  3. Select the desired Laserfiche repository.
  4. If security has been enabled on that repository, log in as any user who has been granted the Manage Volumes privilege for the specified repository.
  5. Select the Volumes node.
  6. In the Action menu, point to All Tasks and select Default Security.
  7. Configure default security as you would normal security. See Assigning Volume Access Rights for more information.
