Handling Large Attachments

Laserfiche can be configured to warn you when large attachments are going to be sent in email. The default attachment warning size is set to 1000 KB (or approximately 0.97 MB), but you can configure a warning to appear when attachments exceed any file size. To not receive this warning, clear the Warn when attachments are greater than # KB checkbox.

Note: A maximum file size for sending and receiving email attachments may be configured on the email server used by your organization or your recipient’s organization. Files that are too large for either system to handle are returned to you unsent. We recommended you find out your email system’s maximum file size and configure Laserfiche to warn you before such files are sent.

Tip: If the recipient has access to the Laserfiche repository and has the Laserfiche Windows client installed, or has access to your repository through the Laserfiche web client, consider sending a link to a large file rather than the large file itself.

To configure the large attachment warning

  1. Open Options: Export: Email in the Laserfiche Windows client or Settings: Export: Email in the Laserfiche web client.
  2. Select or clear the checkbox for Warn when attachments are greater than if you want to be warned about the total file size of your attachments. If you select this option, specify a maximum file size (in KB).
  3. Click OK.

Note: To convert Megabytes (MB) to Kilobytes (KB), multiply by 1024.
