Preparing Sessions for Quick Fields Agent
Quick Fields Agent enables you to schedule sessions that start and run without user supervision. Before creating a schedule, verify that the session functions correctly on the target computer and does not require any user interaction. Although Quick Fields Agent includes a validation utility to identify common configuration issues, manually testing each session remains an important best practice.
Note: Quick Fields Agent automatically stores documents for sessions configured for manual storage as well as those configured for scheduled storage.
Testing
Quick Fields Agent runs the session as though a user had pressed the scan button at the scheduled time. To ensure the session can run unattended, open it on the computer where Quick Fields Agent will run, start the scan, and confirm that no dialog boxes or prompts appear that would interrupt processing. Adjust the session configuration as needed to eliminate any required user input.
Note: If the user account used during testing has different permissions than the account running the Quick Fields Agent service, the session may behave differently when scheduled. For details, refer to The Quick Fields Agent Service as a Windows User. You may also choose to test sessions directly within Quick Fields Agent by running them immediately after configuration before relying on scheduled operation.
Security
When configuring sessions intended for Quick Fields Agent, ensure that Laserfiche connections do not require interactive login, as this would generate prompts that halt unattended processing. Supported authentication options include:
- Laserfiche Authentication: The session stores the username and an encrypted password.
- Windows Authentication: The Windows account associated with the Quick Fields Agent service must be changed from a system account to a standard user account.
