Laserfiche Forms App

The new Laserfiche Forms app is a dedicated mobile app that lets users interact with Laserfiche Forms directly on their iOS devices. With this app, users can access their Forms inbox, complete assigned tasks, find and fill out forms, submit new form processes, and attach images from their mobile device — all while on the go. If your administrator has configured a Forms server, selecting it during sign-in gives you access to every form available on that server and a streamlined workflow experience optimized for mobile use.

Updated Microsoft Office Integrations

Office Document Check In Experience

The Laserfiche Office Integration has been updated with a new tray app that makes checking documents in and out of your repository easier and more seamless. Checking documents back into your repository is now performed in the new tray app, or by clicking on the Windows notification that appears when you close your document. Documents that have been checked out automatically using "Edit in Desktop" will be checked back in automatically after the document is closed – allowing you to more seamlessly make quick edits to Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, and other Microsoft Office files.

Laserfiche Outlook Add-In for Microsoft Office 365

The Laserfiche Outlook Add-in for Microsoft 365 lets you save emails and attachments directly to Laserfiche Cloud and self-hosted repositories. Available for use with Office 365 accounts, including new Outlook support, the Laserfiche Outlook Add-in can archive correspondence along with their metadata to start Laserfiche workflows or processes.

Repository Field Formulas

Laserfiche has updated the field formulas feature with new options and functionality. You can now specify how formulas will be applied if the field already contains a value: always update the field even if it would overwrite an existing value, or update the field only if it does not currently have a value. This allows you to both account for cases where users might be making manual corrections that should not be overwritten by the formula, and for cases where the final value should always be determined by the formula.

Field formulas are also now calculated at the server level rather than within the Web Client. This means that field formulas will be evaluated when values are populated by other Laserfiche applications, such as Workflow, Quick Fields, or Import Agent, allowing you to take advantage of the functionality for automation and bulk operations.

Repository and Repository Server Administration

In Laserfiche 12, the Desktop Administration Console has been replaced with the lightweight Repository Server Administration Tool. This new tool provides dedicated server-level administration in a streamlined interface, while repository-level management is now fully handled by Web Client Repository Administration. All supported Desktop Admin Console functionality is now available in one of these two locations, using the same privileges and security.

Repository Server Administration Tool

The Repository Server Administration Tool provides information about your server at a glance such as its current status, license information, connections, and installation information. The tool handles server level actions including database connection settings, ports, system managers, and repository creation. Like the Desktop Administration Console, it can connect to a Repostiory Server installed locally as well as to other machines.

Repository Administration in the Web Client

The Web Client Repository Administration site now includes tabs for managing volumes, audit logs, and search indexing. After logging in as a system administrator with the relevant privileges, e.g., Manage Audit Settings, you will be able to view and update these settings for the current repository. With these new tabs, all repository-level administration is now available through the Web Client.

Directory Server Licensing Update Handling

The license renewal process now includes improved migration support when updating a primary license of a different type, such as from Laserfiche Rio to Subscription or Evaluation to Production. Previously, Directory Server would prevent the direct replacement of the license. Directory Server now maps allocated resources using your existing configuration.

Improved Capture and Import

New OCR languages are available: Vietnamese, Hebrew, Arabic, and Thai. Arabic and Thai no longer requires separate licensing.

Import Agent

Import Agent better supports on-time or ad-hoc imports with the "On Demand" scheduling option for profiles. Users can now manually start any profile to run it immediately. Other enhancements include file exclusion filters to easily exclude temp files and a new Windows file owner token. Import Agent now also makes it easier to monitor for issues with configurable email notifications for import failures such as invalid user credentials.

Snapshot Enhancements

Added a new repository connection option, Laserfiche Web Client, for Laserfiche Snapshot. This option allows connecting to a repository through the Web Client instead of directly to a Laserfiche Server, better supporting scenarios where end users are outside the internal network.

Releases of Modules New to Laserfiche 12

Audit Trail, Quick Fields, Quick Fields Agent and administration and Distributed Computing Cluster are now available through the Laserfiche 12 installer. In addition to fixes and the new installation method, these applications now match the Laserfiche 12 refreshed look-and-feel, for a clean, modern experience.
