Configuring Auditing

This topic describes how to configure auditing for repository activity.

Note: Process Automation audit events are logged automatically and do not require configuration.

Determine Which Repository Events to Log

Most repository actions can be logged. Individual actions are grouped into event classes based on the type of activity.

Audit events are collected into event classes, allowing you to quickly select categories of events to audit. For a complete list, see Audit Events.

Auditing determines which events will be logged based on user and group configuration:

  • Group membership: If a user inherits audit settings from a group, any events configured for that group will be audited.
  • User configuration: If events are explicitly assigned to a user, only those events will be audited.

Auditing configured on the Everyone group applies to all users.

  1. Open Repository Administration from the app picker.
  2. Select Users, Groups, or Everyone.
  3. Select the user or group to configure.
  4. Open the Auditing tab.
  5. Select Success and/or Failure for each event class.
  6. Click Save.

Prompting Users for Reasons

You can require users to provide a reason before performing certain repository actions such as deleting, exporting, or printing documents.

  1. Open Repository Administration.
  2. Select Users, Groups, or Everyone.
  3. Select the user or group.
  4. Open the Auditing tab.
  5. Add reasons under the relevant event.
  6. Click Save.
