Setting Privileges for Trustees

Privileges are special permissions that grant the ability to perform administrative activities. Here a few examples of the type of actions that privileges allow you to perform:

• Create a Laserfiche user account.
• Grant access rights to objects within the repository.
• Create a volume.

Grant privileges to specific users so that they can perform specific administrative tasks. You should only grant a privilege to a user who requires that privilege in order to perform necessary maintenance functions. You can grant privileges in two ways:

• You can explicitly grant a privilege to a Laserfiche user account, Windows Account, or LDAP Account for a particular domain user.
• You can grant a privilege to a Laserfiche group, Windows Account group or LDAP group. The users in that group will automatically receive the privilege as well.

In a new repository, the following privileges will automatically be granted:

• The ADMIN user will be granted all privileges for the repository.
• The EVERYONE group will be granted Bypass Filter Expressions and Bypass Browse.

Note: These settings only apply to a fresh repository with no contents. Existing repositories and migrated repositories will retain their original security. Because Folder Filter Expressions were not available in Laserfiche 7, the Bypass Filter Expression privilege will be granted to the Everyone group on migrated repositories, as it confers certain performance advantages.
