Document and Folder Naming

All entries have a name. You can provide a name when creating or importing an entry. You can also use tokens when creating new entries to dynamically fill in the name.

Entry names must be unique within a folder. This means that if a folder contains a document, folder, or shortcut with a particular name, no other document, folder, or shortcut can be created with that name in the same folder. However, entry names do not have to be unique throughout the repository--two documents in different folders can have the same name.

Shortcuts do not have to share the same name as the document they point to. This allows you to refer to a single, central document by different names in different contexts.

By default, if you try to create or import a document, you will be prompted to provide a different name. You can also configure default behavior for handling name conflicts.
