Contents Pane
The Contents Pane displays either the content for the currently open folder or the results of the last search performed. The icon to the left of each item listed in the pane identifies what type of entry it is.
If you have assigned colors to templates, documents and folders that have been assigned that template will be displayed in the same color as the template. Learn more.
There are several options for viewing entries in the Contents Pane. The following options are accessed from the View menu: large icons, small icons, list, or details (this option will display columns). You can customize how the contents pane will display entries from the View menu. Learn more.

A folder is a container that can hold imaged documents, electronic documents, shortcuts, and other folders. |
|
A Laserfiche imaged document allows you to store related information in a single location. By default, the template assigned to the document determines the color of the imaged document icon, however, you may configure document icons to be color-coded by volume. |

An electronic document is a file stored in a Laserfiche repository that can be opened using its native application (e.g., the native application for a Microsoft Word document is Microsoft Word). By default, electronic documents will be displayed using the icon for its electronic file. If an electronic file has not been associated with a Windows application, it will be assigned the generic icon. |
|
A shortcut allows a Laserfiche imaged document, electronic document, or folder to be accessible from a location other than where the original is stored. Opening a shortcut will open the original imaged document, electronic document, or folder. Shortcut status is indicated by the arrow in the lower left hand corner of the image. |
Note: The Contents Pane is always displayed on the right-hand side of the folder browser window. If the Folder Pane and Search Pane have been closed, the Contents Pane will take up the entire area below the toolbar.
