Logging In to Multiple Repositories

You can log in to more than one repository at a time, allowing you to view and compare information in different repositories, or to copy entries between them, without having to log in and out of each one repeatedly.

Note: For more information on logging in to a repository using the Laserfiche Windows client, see Accessing Your Repository Using the Laserfiche Windows client.

In order to log in to multiple repositories, you must be able to authenticate to all of the repositories that you want to access. Your authentication details may not be the same in different repositories. (For instance, you might need to use Windows Authentication in one repository and a user name and password in another, or you might have a different user name in one repository than in another.) Contact your administrator if you are not sure how to log in to your repositories.

Note: Logging in to multiple repositories at once is not supported in the Laserfiche web client.

Logging In to Multiple Repositories

To log in to multiple repositories

  1. Log in to the first repository normally. See Accessing Your Repository Using the Laserfiche Windows client for more information.
  2. Laserfiche will open and the repository you attached will be visible in the folder browser.
  3. To log in to another repository, click it in the Folder Pane. The Login dialog box will open.

Note: If the repository you want to log in to is not listed, you may need to attach it. See Attaching Multiple Repositories, below, for more information.

  4. Perform one of the following:
    • To log in using Windows Authentication, select Windows authentication.
    • To log in using a Laserfiche user name and password, select Password authentication, and then fill the appropriate values in the User name and Password options.
    • Note: If you are logging in using LDAP authentication, you will need to provide your LDAP information in the User name and Password options. Type your user name in the format CommonName@ServerProfile, and type your password normally.  If you aren't sure whether you will be using LDAP authentication, or what your common name or server profile is, contact your administrator.

  5. Click OK. You will be logged in to the selected repository.
  6. Repeat steps 3-5 for as many repositories as you want to log in to.

Attaching Multiple Repositories

You only need to attach a repository using the following procedure if the repository you want to log in to is not already listed in the Folder Pane. If it is already listed, simply log in using the above procedure. However, if it is not, you can attach it yourself.

To attach a repository not currently listed in the folder browser

  1. Do one of the following:
    • In the folder browser, click File and select Attach Repository.
    • In the Folder Pane, right-click the Laserfiche Repositories node in the folder tree and select Attach Repository.
  2. The ClosedAttach Repository dialog box will open.

  3. In the Repository type option, perform one of the following:
    • To attach a network repository, select Network repository. Then, in the Laserfiche Server option, select or type your Laserfiche Server name.
    • To attach a published Plus repository, select Published repository. Then, in the Path option, browse to the path to your published repository.

Note: In most cases, your repository will be a network repository. If you aren't sure what to select, choose Network repository or contact your administrator.

  4. In the Name option, select or type the name of your repository.
  5. Optional: If you want to attach the repository using an SSL connection, select Use SSL Connection.
  6. Click Attach to attach the repository.

Note: If you are not sure of the name of your Laserfiche Server, the name of your repository, or whether to connect using SSL, contact your administrator for assistance.
