Disabled Fields and Field Security

When working with field data, you may run across fields that are disabled, or grayed out. A disabled field indicates you do not have sufficient rights to make changes to that field. However, you are allowed to view the information in that field.

Note: A blank field may become disabled after you assign it a value. This behavior indicates you only have sufficient rights to assign a value to that field. You do not have sufficient privileges to modify that value. 

Note: Fields for a document checked out by another user, or for a document that you have opened in read-only mode, will also be disabled.

Administrators can configure field and template rights to determine what fields various users can and cannot see and modify. See Template and Field Access Rights in the Laserfiche Administration Guide for more information.
