Exporting Text

Text associated with a page in a document can be exported as a single text file or multiple text files, with or without redactions.

You can choose to export multiple documents at one time. In the Laserfiche Windows client, these documents will be exported as separate files. In the Laserfiche web client will automatically group all the selected documents in a zip file.

Note: Text export options can be configured in Options: Export: Text in the Laserfiche Windows client, or Settings: Export: Text in the Laserfiche web client.

To export text from the Windows client

  1. From the File menu, point to Export, and select Text.
  2. Under Save in, select the drive and folder where exported text files will be saved.
  3. Optional: Under File name, specify the name to be assigned to your exported text file(s). If you are not exporting text as a single file, page numbers will be appended to this name.

  4. Under Page range, specify the pages to be exported. Pages can be specified in any combination of individual pages and page ranges. Multiple pages and/or page ranges should be separated by commas. For example, to export pages 1, 3, and 5 through 12, set this option to: 1, 3, 5-12.
  5. To open exported images immediately after they are exported, select the Open exported file(s) immediately checkbox.
  6. Click Save to export your text.

Note: You may be prompted to provide a reason for exporting. See Reasons for Deletion, Export, and Printing for more information.
