What's New in Laserfiche 12 Spring 2025
New Installer
A new centralized installer lets you see which Laserfiche products you have installed and any available updates, shows you what products are available to you, and allows you to install or update multiple products in parallel, without repeatedly referencing your activation key or the support site.
Administration Hub Enhancements
The Administration Hub boasts a new system overview, giving administrators a birds-eye view of their Laserfiche system so they can see at a glance which applications are installed on which servers and how each component is connected.
Additionally, you can now export both comprehensive logging information and server listing information making troubleshooting and providing information to support engineers easier than ever.
Forms Enhancements
Laserfiche Forms’ process testing feature can now seamlessly communicate with Workflow. When a process invokes a workflow, it can alert the workflow that it’s running in test mode by passing the “Is BP instance in test mode” input parameter to the workflow. The workflow can then be configured to run different conditional sequences depending on that parameter’s value. Additionally, Workflow can launch a forms process directly as a test instance. Test rules are also passed to sub-processes extending the benefit of test mode to all parts of your process. System profiles provide a central location to view and manage repository credentials used in processes. New bulk management options, allow viewing and updating credentials used for service tasks across multiple processes from one place.
Repository Web Client Enhancements
Searching for documents from the repository web client is easier than ever as you can now search for documents with blank fields or fields that do not contain a specific value directly from the search pane, without having to use advanced search syntax. Also, when searching by template, fields are shown with their template-specific labels instead of their field name.
Field rules for templates have been expanded. In addition to showing and hiding fields based on specific conditions, you can also conditionally make fields required based on other field values. The table option for multi-value field groups in a template has been enhanced so that it now supports pagination and filtering, allowing you to easily find information when many values have been added to a table.
Refreshed Look and Feel
The new Laserfiche 12 look and feel has been extended to more desktop applications including an entirely refreshed Windows client and Snapshot, as well as updates to Workflow.
Workflow Enhancements
Boost Confidence with Test Mode Support for Forms in Workflow: Laserfiche Workflow now supports Forms running in Test Mode, offering users a secure environment to test business processes before live deployment. With the new BPinstanceInTestMode token, workflows can recognize Forms operating in test mode, and users can trigger business processes with the “Run in Test Mode” option in the Invoke Business Process activity. This feature ensures a safer, controlled testing experience, empowering users to fine-tune processes with confidence and ease.
Elevate Document Annotation with Dynamic Stamp Support: With the introduction of dynamic stamps, users can incorporate tokens such as Date, Username, ParentID, and more—mirroring the flexibility of the web client. This feature empowers organizations to create customized, dynamic document annotations, streamlining workflows and improving content management efficiency.
Easily Manage External Objects with Advanced Import Functionality: Laserfiche introduces advanced tools for managing external objects during workflow imports. Extract external objects, compare them with existing server objects, and determine how to handle conflicts with precision. This feature offers flexible options such as using existing server objects, creating new ones with unique names, or overwriting current objects—ensuring full compatibility and control. Additional safeguards include support for password-protected data sources and workflows using certificates, empowering organizations to maintain secure and efficient workflow operations.
Strengthen Data Security with New Export Behavior: Laserfiche Workflow introduces enhanced controls for exporting workflows, prioritizing the protection of sensitive data. When the "Do not include connection profiles in exported workflows" option is enabled, credentials for connection profiles, data sources, email servers, and web services are excluded from exported .wfi files. This improvement prevents the inclusion of sensitive data when exporting workflows, reinforcing security and safeguarding confidential information during workflow management.
Streamline Email Integration with OAuth 2.0 Support: Laserfiche introduces OAuth 2.0 authentication for Gmail and Outlook connections in Email Activities, aligning with modern integration best practices. Enhance workflow security and compatibility with cloud-based environments by utilizing OAuth for email. This new feature empowers organizations to seamlessly connect with Microsoft 365 and Gmail for secure and efficient email operations.
Transform Document Management with SharePoint Online Integration: Laserfiche introduces advanced integration with SharePoint Online, simplifying document management for Microsoft 365 users. This feature enables organizations to securely store, retrieve, and manage files, tasks, calendars, and other supported list items in SharePoint Online directly from workflows, fostering collaboration and maximizing cloud-based storage potential. Experience a smarter, more efficient way to handle your content.
Enhance Web Service Requests with Enhanced OAuth 2.0 Support: Laserfiche expands OAuth 2.0 capabilities to Web Service Requests, enabling seamless, secure connections to modern APIs. By adopting OAuth for authentication, organizations can enhance integration security and ensure compatibility with cloud-based services. This update empowers users to interact with external systems more efficiently while adhering to best practices in API communication.
Strengthened Security with Web Request Client Certificate: Laserfiche Workflow now supports web requests with client certificates, enabling secure communication with web services that require two-way TLS authentication. By allowing client certificates to be trusted by the web service, authentication succeeds seamlessly, preventing web request activity failures.
This new feature ensures smoother integration with secure web services, expanding Workflow's capabilities to meet modern security standards.
Directory Server Enhancements
Directory Server now provides a list of all licensed domains when using domain-based licensing, and last login time for users, allowing administrators more insight into their Laserfiche systems. Entra ID now works better with large systems, integrating with Graph API to support directories that have over 150 groups assigned to individual users.
The Spring release also gives you the latest versions of dependencies and libraries for optimum security.
