General

The General node in the Options dialog box lets you configure general customization settings.

To configure this node

  1. Select Options under Tools in the main menu.
  2. Select the General node under Designer.
  3. Configure the following:
    • Open locally saved .wfx file on Designer startup: If this checkbox is selected, the Designer will open preloaded with the all workflows that were open before the Designer had last closed.

      Example: With this checkbox selected, open Workflow A and B in the Workflow Designer, save them locally and close the program. When the Workflow Designer is reopened, Workflow A and B will open as well.

    • Recently used files to display: Determines the number of recently opened or saved workflows that should be displayed under File, Recent Files in the main menu. The maximum is 20.
    • Create auto-recovery point every: Defines, in minutes, how often auto-recovery information should be saved.
    • Limit the number of actions that can be undone to: Specifies the number of actions that will be stored in the undo queue.
    • Note: If you clear this option, Workflow will store every action you perform in the Designer until you close the Designer. Unless you close the Designer frequently, storing every action can lead to memory and performance problems.

    • Show Toolbar: Determines if the toolbar is shown, and whether the toolbar uses large icons and/or shows descriptive text below each button.
    • Run full activity validation when loading a workflow: If selected, a full activity validation will run when loading a workflow. By default, this option is cleared so that all the validation errors associated with a workflow are not shown in a dialog box when it is opened.
    • Use Windows theme colors: Defines whether Windows theme colors will be used. You must restart your Workflow Designer after selecting this option for the theme colors to apply to Workflow.
    • Record the file version history for workflow definitions (.wfx): If the file version history for workflow definitions should be recorded, select this checkbox. If selected, the File Versions tab of a workflow definition's properties will list the file version of the workflow, the user that created or updated the file, when the file was created, and how long each version of the file existed before it was updated. You may want to clear this option for security reasons.

      Note: This file version history is unrelated to the published versions of a workflow definition.

    • Scan network for Laserfiche servers and repositories: Determines whether the Workflow Designer and Workflow Administration Console will actively query for available Laserfiche Servers and repositories on the network. Disable this option if you are in a network environment with high-latency or you have a large number of Laserfiche Servers and repositories on the network. You can always type the server name and repository name in locations where you need to specify Laserfiche server and repository information.
    • Default Connection Profile: This option allows you to can change your default connection profile using the drop-down menu or click Manage to add, modify, or remove profiles.
