Laserfiche Cloud 2025 Updates
April 2025
The Laserfiche Cloud April 2025 update includes the following new features.
Watch an overview of the new features here:
Repository Metadata Enhancements
Repository Metadata Enhancements in Laserfiche Cloud reduce data entry errors and allow for more efficient and accurate data entry with updated field types, including radio button and checkbox fields with an optional "Other" selection, side-by-side field display, collapsible sections, and support for a table view of multi-valued field groups.
Organize metadata entry with the user-friendly metadata designer that allows you to drag-and-drop components for you to input your metadata in a more efficient way that is custom to your needs. You can also tailor field names to your specific template and add instructions to guide users through metadata. Field rules let you automatically show and hide fields based on what the user inputs in other fields to improve visibility.
Refreshed Look and Feel
A new UI look is coming to Laserfiche Cloud over the next few months. You may see new colors, icons, and more as you navigate through - making your Cloud experience even better and ensuring a consistent experience across Laserfiche Cloud.
Multi-Repository Support
While Laserfiche provides robust security controls over all your documents, sometimes you may still want a more obvious separation of your data. For instance, organizations may have to meet strict regulatory requirements, and implement special storage policies, or it might simply be easier to place all your legal documents in their own repository. In these scenarios, being able to store certain documents in a separate repository can greatly simplify compliance.
Multiple repositories allow customers to organize and secure their data in the way that best fits their organization. Talk to your Solution Provider to learn more about multiple repositories.
German Support
Laserfiche Cloud adds supports the German language and locale. You can edit your language and locale in your user settings, selecting Profile, and selecting the Language and Regional Format drop downs.
Help Documentation Chatbot
Find critical documentation you need even faster with the Laserfiche AI documentation chatbot. We are providing more ways to find documentation when working with Laserfiche.
In addition to using traditional search, you can now use the chatbot to query this documentation site.

June 2025
The Laserfiche Cloud June 2025 update includes the following new features.
Watch an overview of the new features here:
Smart Fields
Smart Fields is a next-generation intelligent capture tool powered by Laserfiche AI. Extracting key information from your content allows you to leverage powerful Laserfiche capabilities in process automation and reporting, but until now it could require setting up specialized capture configurations or performing manual data entry. Smart Fields solves this problem by making setting up and performing data extraction quicker and easier than ever before.
Creating a Smart Field is as easy as checking the box to "automatically extract values," typing a description of the information you want to capture in your own words, and applying those fields to one or more templates. Then, when the template is applied to any document, Laserfiche AI will use this description to automatically fill in the field values. This can be done manually in the Repository Web Client by clicking "Extract values," where you can see the extraction happening directly. It will also automatically fill in values anywhere templates can be applied in Laserfiche Cloud, including through Import Agent, Workflow, and more. Once created, Smart Fields can be re-used and combined wherever similar information exists. They even support advanced features like line-item extractions, capturing data from tables into multi-value fields, and handwriting recognition. In addition to direct one-to-one extraction, you can even use Smart Fields to organize, interpret, or derive new meanings from your extracted data - such as summarizing, creating bulleted lists, or translating to foreign languages.
Smart Chat
Your repository contains vast amounts of unstructured information. Until now, answering business questions that depend on this content could take hours of reading, searching, and sifting through your repository, delaying you from tackling higher value work.
Smart Chat is a Laserfiche AI chatbot that lets you find information and insights trapped within your documents faster and easier than ever before–all by typing natural-language questions.
In the Document Viewer, launch Smart Chat using the Laserfiche AI button in the header. When the chatbot appears, type in a question about your document. Laserfiche AI will generate an answer based on the information contained within the document. Or if your question depends on multiple documents, launch Smart Chat from the Folder Browser or Search Results pages. You can select up to 100 documents on which to base your Smart Chat questions, and each AI-generated answer will include the links to the documents that most helped it form its answer. If a single question is not enough, Smart Chat will remember your prior questions until you click "Clear chat history."
Smart Chat can also help you with your product design and administration questions. From Repository Administration, the Workflow Designer, or the Business Process Designer, you can launch Smart Chat and ask questions about how to use Laserfiche. For example, if you can't remember how to set up a Look Up table, ask Smart Chat.
Deployment Manager
The Laserfiche Deployment Manager tool assists customer organizations with moving their workflows and business processes from their self-hosted Laserfiche system to Laserfiche Cloud.
A new graphical interface allows you to select which processes and workflows to migrate, and the tool will run the migration, while not impeding any work in the new Laserfiche Cloud environment.
Accelerate your migration to Laserfiche Cloud today by leveraging the Deployment Manager.

August 2025
The Laserfiche Cloud August 2025 update includes the following updates.
Watch an overview of the updates here:
Deployment Manager: Cloud Solutions
The Deployment Manager is a tool for efficiently packaging and deploying Laserfiche solutions. It can be used to move solutions from one Cloud account to another, saving significant time and effort over manually recreating solutions in the target accounts. You must have access to the Process Automation module and be a Process Administrator or Process Developer in order to use the tool.
From the App Picker, you will find the Deployment Manager under Account Administration.
To create a new Deployment Package, simply click New, name your package, and add the resources that comprise it. For example, your solution might contain workflows, business processes, fields, and rules. Once saved and verified, your package can now be exported as a JSON file and shared with another Cloud account.
Simply import the package in the new account, open it, and click Deploy. You will then be presented with a helpful wizard to configure your solution for the new account, including resolving any linked resources or naming conflicts. Once completed, your solution will be deployed to the target account.
To see the deployed resources, click on each one and they will open for your review. Deployed business processes and workflows need to be published before they will run.
The Deployment Manager can be used to update previously deployed packages, including performing partial updates. For example, you can choose to update a single workflow within a package that contains multiple workflows. The Deployment Manager can also be used to revert deployed solutions to prior versions of packages.
Deployment Manager: Self-hosted Solutions
The Deployment Manager can also be used to migrate processes and solutions from self-hosted systems to Cloud accounts, making it easier than ever to get to Laserfiche Cloud. Before migrating, we recommend you run the Migration Readiness Assessment Tool available on our Support site.
Export your Business Processes or Workflows from your self-hosted system and then import them as Files within a Deployment Package into the target Cloud account. Depending on solution compatibility, some resources will map directly to Cloud while others will migrate as shells to facilitate easier solution redesign. The self-hosted properties for these shell resources are included wherever possible to assist you in this effort.
For more details about how you can use the Deployment Manager for self-hosted solution migrations, please visit the Migration Tools page.
Expanded User Interface Languages
Laserfiche Cloud has added support for additional languages in its user interface (UI). This update helps make the Laserfiche Cloud platform more accessible to users around the world, allowing more users to interact with the product in their preferred language.
Additional Changes
Please see the changelog for a listing of additional fixes and changes.
September 2025
The Laserfiche Cloud September 2025 update includes the following updates.
Watch an overview of the updates here:
Direct Database Connections
Customers can now directly connect Laserfiche Cloud with external databases, allowing data that resides outside of Laserfiche to be used in real-time in their custom forms, business processes, and automations. This new feature enables several new use cases, such as using an external database to populate fields in a Laserfiche form in real time, or directly updating a database from workflows triggered in Laserfiche Process Automation, all without any additional software or configurations.
To get started, users can create a new data source in Laserfiche Cloud that connects directly to their database, without the need to use remote agents or synchronize data into lookup tables. For instance, Laserfiche Forms can now retrieve data from your key external databases in real time using custom SQL queries, ensuring users always have access to the most up-to-date information, without the need for manual data transfers or duplication. By ensuring that customers can leverage their data, wherever it resides, Laserfiche can help eliminate data silos and streamline workflows.
Single Sign-on Configuration Refinement
We've redesigned the single sign-on and automatic account provisioning configuration experience in Laserfiche Cloud account administration to make it more intuitive: consolidating settings, streamlining setup steps, and adding clearer guidance. This makes it easier to synchronize with external identity providers through either SCIM synchronization or just-in-time account provisioning.
Additional Changes
Please see the changelog for a listing of additional fixes and changes.
October 2025
The Laserfiche Cloud October 2025 update includes the following updates.
Watch an overview of the updates here:
Smart Fields – Language Support
Smart Fields is our next-generation intelligent capture tool powered by Laserfiche AI, enabling you to extract key information from content without specialized capture configurations or manual data entry.
Smart Fields was previously able to perform extractions from image files in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, and Portuguese. This list of supported languages has been expanded to include Chinese, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Thai, Vietnamese, and 53 others. Partial support is available for another 169 languages.
This change means that whatever the language of your content stored in Laserfiche Cloud, Smart Fields will be able to recognize and extract the key information you need to capture as metadata, which in turn can unlock powerful Laserfiche capabilities like process automation and reporting.
Smart Fields – Packaging Changes
Another change to Smart Fields this month is the ability for all customers with process automation to automate their smart fields extractions.
Previously, accounts on Professional tier have been limited to manual extractions through the repository web client. That limit is now removed, meaning both Professional and Business tier customers can fully automate smart fields extractions using Workflow, Import Agent, or any Laserfiche module. In fact, any system action that applies a template can be used to automate smart fields extractions, if the applied template has smart fields defined within it.
For those customers who want to continue or restrict their organizations to manual-only extractions, this ability has been added to your Repository Administration options.
Usage limits still apply, so be sure to check the plan information page for your extraction limits.
Increased Conditional Starting Events for Business Tier customers
The amount of Conditional Starting Events for Workflow is being expanded to support the growing automation needs of our customers.
New and existing Laserfiche Business Tier customers get additional value in their subscriptions, with 50 Conditional Starting Events for Workflow included, up from 25, which removes barriers for customers expanding their organizational and departmental business processes and use cases.
Professional tier customers will continue to have 25 Conditional Starting Events, but now both Professional and Business tiers have the option to expand up to 100, giving organizations of every size and use case complexity room to grow their automation capabilities as their needs evolve.
Additional Changes
Please see the changelog for a listing of additional fixes and changes.
November 2025
The Laserfiche Cloud November 2025 update includes the following updates.
Watch an overview of the updates here:
Smart Fields with Classification
Smart Fields with Classification is an enhancement to Smart Fields that automatically selects the best-fit template for your document as part of AI-assisted metadata population. Now, when you use Smart Fields to automatically extract metadata, you no longer need to first know the right template to apply. Laserfiche AI can choose it for you, whether you're triggering Smart Fields manually or via automation. Smart Fields with Classification simplifies and speeds up metadata extraction helping classify your documents and apply metadata with fewer clicks and less guesswork.
To set up Smart Fields with Classification, repository administrators can mark new or existing templates eligible for automatic selection in template properties or the template designer. Check the box labeled "Eligible for automatic selection with Smart Fields" and provide a natural language description of your template. It will be added to the set of templates considered during future automatic selection actions. If you want to view all templates eligible for automatic selection, you can filter the template list to only show eligible templates. Once set up, automatic selection can take place manually or through automation. Users will see a new button when viewing templates in the Repository Web Client details pane. Clicking this button triggers Laserfiche AI to automatically select the best-fit template for your document from among the set of eligible templates. If a fit is found, it will be assigned to the document, and any smart fields will be automatically extracted. To apply the template and extracted fields, click Save.
To automatically select templates for multiple documents or to access automatic selection via automation applications like Workflow or Import Agent, choose the < Automatically select template > option in the template list. When this option is saved, the best-fit template will be selected for each document, and, if present, smart fields will be extracted automatically.
Smart Chat Enhancements
Smart Chat is an AI chatbot that answers questions from both Laserfiche Cloud education resources and your own repository documents, allowing you to discover information and insights faster and more easily than ever before. In this release we've added important enhancements to Smart Chat's capabilities.
Smart Chat can now answer educational resources questions anywhere Smart Chat is available, including the Repository browser, document viewer, and search results pages. In the past, using Smart Chat in these locations was limited to questions about repository documents only. This enhancement allows users to ask a wider range of questions, including those that combine information from educational resources and your repository documents.
Smart Chat is also now available in more locations in Process Automation. In the past, Smart Chat was available only in that module's Workflow Designer and Business Process Designer pages. Smart Chat can now be found in all Process Automation list and landing pages, including Rules, Data Management, Integrations, Teams, and more.
December 2025 Updates
The Laserfiche Cloud December 2025 update includes the following updates.
Watch an overview of the updates here:
Smart Chat Enhancements
Smart Chat is an AI chatbot that can answer questions about your repository documents, allowing you to discover information and insights faster and more easily than viewing the documents directly. Smart Chat can now answer questions about folders and their contents. When you select entries for a Smart Chat query, any folders included will now be fully processed. Smart Chat takes into account all documents and subfolders within those folders when answering your question, ensuring that all content is part of your results.
Also in this release, Smart Chat has been given a convenient Copy button, making it easier to retain or share Smart Chat responses. Click the Copy button, and you're ready to paste elsewhere.
AI-Assisted Tag Classification
Let Laserfiche AI automatically determine what tags should be applied to documents. You can specify which tags to enable for automatic selection, and then Laserfiche AI will determine which tags are appropriate based on document contents.
Automatically applying tags speeds up document classification with fewer clicks and less guesswork.
Repository administrators can mark tags as being eligible for automatic selection when viewing a tag's properties. Select the box labeled "Enable for AI-assisted selection" and provide a natural language description of the tag. It will be added to the set of tags considered during future automatic selection actions.
Once set up, automatic selection can take place manually or through automation. Users will see a new option when viewing tags in the Repository Web Client details pane. Clicking on the "Automatically select tags" option triggers Laserfiche AI to automatically select any appropriate tags for your document from among the set of eligible tags.
To access automatic selection via automation applications like Workflow or Import Agent, choose the <Automatically select tags> option in the tags list. When this option is saved, appropriate tags will be selected for each document.

-
An import throttle option allows you to throttle the document import rate. For example, Import Agent can import at a much faster rate than Workflow can process the documents, causing a bottleneck and performance issues for all workflows in the system. In this situation, you may want to limit import to 1,000 documents every 10-15 minutes, depending on performance.
Note: Laserfiche Cloud profiles will have the default import throttle setting automatically applied to them, which is to import at most 16 documents every 1 seconds. This option will be cleared by default for Laserfiche self hosted profiles.
- For multi-repository Laserfiche Cloud environments, Import Agent and Email Archive now allow you to easily select a Laserfiche Cloud repository to import into.
- Error logs for both Import Agent and Email Archive are now stored in the product's program data files for easy access, with additional events logged for better troubleshooting.

- Email archive profile changes apply instantly and no longer require a service restart. (551943)
Fixes for Import Agent
- Import Agent now stops continuously trying to reconnect to the Laserfiche repository if the account it is trying to connect with has invalid credentials. Instead the Import Agent profile with invalid credentials will suspend and show a message in the Laserfiche Import Agent Configuration Utility. (553486)
- If the "Delete unmodified files" option is selected under Post Processing, it will now correctly delete files even if the Move to field has a trailing "\". (491676)
- The File Filter option has been improved so that it's more clear that you can enter custom file types. (552631)
- The document date field is correctly populated regardless of the number of pages in the document, for documents imported via XML file. (516867)
- Import Agent now consistently creates new versions for documents under version control, even when a session disconnect error occurs during import. (607860)
