Configuring Access to Volumes
Volume access rights offer a broad method of securing documents. Just as you can restrict access for users on documents, you can restrict users from certain volumes, thus securing the documents on that volume without having to specifically assign entry access rights on individual documents.
Some examples of volume access rights include the ability to:
- View the contents of a document in a volume.
- Create new documents in a volume.
Volume access rights can be configured from the Laserfiche
In a new repository, the following privileges will automatically be granted:
- The ADMIN user will be granted all volume access rights.
- The EVERYONE group will be granted the Read, Add Files, Modify/Delete Files, Create Documents, and Read Volume Security rights for the default volume.
Note: These settings only apply to a fresh repository with no contents. Existing repositories and migrated repositories will retain their original security.
Additionally, when a new volume is created, by default the EVERYONE group will have the Read, Add Files, Modify/Delete Files, Create Documents, and Read Volume Security rights, and the user who created the volume will have all volume rights. See Default Volume Security for more information.
