Laserfiche User's MFA Status Setting

Laserfiche users MFA Status can be set to Inherited, Required, or Not Required.

  1. Under the Accounts tab, click on the name of a Laserfiche user.
  2. Under the General tab, you will see the MFA Status field.

  3. Note: By default, MFA Status is set to Inherited when a new Laserfiche user is created or batch imported and the MFA Status is not specified. The behavior of Inherited depends on the MFA option under General settings. To learn more about enabling MFA, navigate to Enabling Multi-Factor Authentication.

    Note: For more information on how to batch import Laserfiche users with the MFA Status specified, please navigate to Batch Import of Laserfiche User Accounts with a Comma Separated Values (CSV) File.

  4. Using the drop-down menu, choose the preferred MFA Status:
    1. Inherited: The behavior of Inherited depends on the MFA inherited behavior is enabled for Laserfiche users option found in the Settings tab, under the General tab.
      • If MFA inherited behavior is enabled for Laserfiche users is toggled Yes, then all Laserfiche users whose MFA status is set to Inherited will be required to use multi-factor authentication to sign in.
      • If MFA inherited behavior is enabled for Laserfiche users is toggled No, then Laserfiche users will not be required to use multi-factor authentication to sign in even if their MFA Status is set to Inherited.
      • Note:To learn more about MFA inherited behavior is enabled for Laserfiche users option, navigate to Enabling Multi-Factor Authentication.

    2. Required: This Laserfiche user must use multi-factor authentication to sign in. This does not depend on the MFA options in the Settings tab.
    3. Not Required : This Laserfiche user is not required to use multi-factor authentication to sign in. If the MFA always required for Laserfiche users is toggled to Yes, then this MFA Status will be bypassed.
    4. Note:To learn more about MFA always required for Laserfiche users option, navigate to Enabling Multi-Factor Authentication.

  5. Note: If MFA Status is changed from Required or Inherited to Not Required for a user, MFA secrets will be cleared automatically.
