Managing Prompts and Settings
Restore Default Settings
You can restore some or all of the settings you configured in the Laserfiche Windows client. Restoring default settings clears your specific user settings. Once your settings have been cleared, you will be returned to the default settings. You can then use the default settings, or configure your own settings again.
When you use this feature, your user settings will return to the default. If an administrator has configured repository default settings by setting trustee attributes on the Everyone group, they will use those settings. If not, the standard Laserfiche defaults will be used.
Certain types of saved configurations are not reset by Restore Default Settings. These include saved searches, custom quick searches, column profiles, custom toolbar buttons, optional watermarks, and favorite business processes. You can delete those saved configurations individually; see the individual help pages for those features for instructions. In addition, Snapshot configuration keys and attributes will not be affected by Restore Default Settings.
Note: Restoring the default settings only affects your user settings. If you are the only user who logs in with your credentials, only your settings will be restored. Some settings that are saved in the registry may be specific to a particular computer. If you frequently use more than one computer to access Laserfiche, you may want to restore the default settings on all of the computers you habitually use.
To restore default settings
- In the Laserfiche Windows client, open the Tools menu and select Options.
- In the Options dialog box, select the Reset node. The General node will open. Learn more.
- Click Restore to reset your settings to the default.
Note: When you reset your default settings, a backup of those settings will automatically be saved at C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Laserfiche (where UserName is the user's Windows username). If you change your mind after restoring the default settings, you can send that file to an administrator, who can use the backup files to restore your personalized settings.
Resetting Prompts
There are many different situations under which you will be prompted to confirm an action, determine how an action will take place, or be warned of the consequences of an action to take place. You can disable many prompts and confirmations by selecting Don't show me again when the prompt appears. For example, the Laserfiche Windows client prompts you to confirm when you send a document to the recycle bin. If you want documents to go directly to the recycle bin when you delete them, without prompting, you can select Don't show me again on the confirmation dialog.
You can also manage reset prompts in the Reset section of the Options dialog. This allows you to manually enable or disable certain prompts, and to globally reset all other prompts and confirmations.
