Toolbar Customizations
You can create, rename, hide, delete, and reset toolbars; add and remove buttons from toolbars; configure the toolbars' appearances; and define keyboard shortcuts for toolbar buttons and menu items, all from the Customize dialog box.
Note: The document viewer or folder browser toolbars must be configured individually as they have different options. Learn about the document viewer toolbar or the folder browser toolbar.
To use the Customize dialog box
- Navigate to the document viewer or folder browser, depending on which toolbar you want to configure.
- Open the Customize dialog box by either:
- Right-clicking a toolbar and selecting Customize.
- Selecting Tools from the main menu and clicking Options. From the Options dialog box, open the Toolbars node and click Customize Toolbar.
- In the Customize dialog box, configure one or more of the following tabs:
- Toolbars:
- Create, hide, rename, reset, or delete toolbars.
- Create custom toolbar buttons.
- Commands: Add or remove buttons from the toolbar.
- Options: Configure the look and behavior of your toolbars, toolbar buttons, and menus.
- Keyboard: Specify the keyboard shortcuts associated with each button on the toolbar.
- Click Close.
To customize toolbars and buttons
- Navigate to the document viewer or folder browser, depending on which toolbar you want to configure.
- Open the Customize dialog box by either:
- Right-clicking a toolbar and selecting Customize.
- Selecting Tools from the main menu, and clicking Options. From the Options dialog box, select Toolbars, and click Customize Toolbar.
- In the Customize dialog box, configure one or more of the following tabs:

To edit buttons individually
When the Customize dialog box is open, you can right-click any toolbar button to edit the button individually. Show me what this looks like.
You can:
- Reset a button to its default image and name.
- Delete a button from the toolbar.
- Rename a button by typing is new name next to the Name option.
- Copy, Paste, Reset, Edit, or Change a button's image.
- Return a toolbar button to its Default Style as far as if it displays its image, text, or both. Its default style is determined in the Options tab of the Customize dialog box.
- Show the toolbar button's Text Only and hide the icon for the button. Show me what this looks like.
- Show the toolbar button's Image and Text together. Show me what this looks like.
- Begin a Group, which adds a vertical dividing line immediately before the selected button.
