Checking In Documents and Saving Modification to Documents

To check out a document in a Microsoft Office application
- Open Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, or Microsoft PowerPoint. Create or open a document, either from your computer or from within Laserfiche.
- Select the Laserfiche tab on the ribbon, and then click Check Out.
- Provide a location to save the document locally in the Location option. By default, a folder will be created in your My Documents folder.
- Optional: Provide a comment for your check out.
- Click OK to check out the document.
To check in a document in a Microsoft Office application
- Open your checked out document in the appropriate Microsoft Office application.
- Select the Laserfiche tab on the ribbon, and then click Check In.
- If the document is under version control, you will be prompted to save as a new version. See Save as New Version in Office for more information.
- If the document is not under version control, you will be prompted to overwrite the existing document, save as a new version, or save as a new document. Select a save option and click OK.
If you do not want to keep the changes you made while the document was checked out, you can undo its checkout. Your changes to the document will not be saved to the repository, and the document will no longer be checked out and will be modifiable by other users.
To undo a check out in a Microsoft Office application
- Open your checked out document in the appropriate Microsoft Office application.
- Select the Laserfiche tab on the ribbon, and then click Undo Check Out.
- Confirm that you want to undo your check out.
